Often the high-pitch sounds of speech are harder to hear, like S, F, and TH. Those sounds make words crisp. When they’re missing, voices can feel muffled or unclear, even when the volume seems fine.
That’s common. It can be from wax, noise exposure, aging, or just how each ear has changed over time. A hearing test will show what’s going on and whether it needs treatment or support.
Those voices are naturally higher in pitch. And high frequencies are usually the first to change with hearing loss. So it’s not about people mumbling, it’s that certain sound ranges are harder to catch.
TVs layer music, background noise, and voices together. If you’re turning it up to understand, not just to hear, it’s usually a sign of changes in clarity rather than volume.
Your brain needs clear sound to separate speech from noise. When hearing changes, your brain has to work harder. That’s why restaurants or family gatherings can feel tiring or frustrating.
Hearing changes are common as we age, but that doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Support can make a big difference in confidence, safety, communication, and staying socially connected.
Age-related or noise-related hearing loss is usually permanent. Ear wax or fluid, on the other hand, can cause temporary hearing changes. A proper test shows the difference right away.
Possibly. Wax can block sound and make things feel dull or echoey. A quick look in the ear tells us immediately.
You don’t need a referral. You can come straight to the clinic for a full hearing test. After that, if a referral is needed, we’ll guide you and send your results directly to your doctor, whether your hearing is normal or if there’s hearing loss that needs follow-up
We take a look in your ears first, then you listen to different tones and speech through headphones. It’s comfortable, straightforward, and gives clear results.

The cost depends on the level of technology in the hearing aid and the amount of support included. Higher technology helps more in busy environments like restaurants or group conversations. And the service plan you choose also plays a big role because it covers your follow-up care, adjustments, cleanings, and support over time.
Prices vary depending on the technology level and the service plan you choose. On average, one hearing aid with a service plan is usually between $2,000 and $3,500
Some plans offer partial coverage.
Yes, hearing aids are considered a medical expense. You can claim them on your taxes, and we can provide the receipts you need. They’re also eligible under most healthcare spending accounts and some extended benefits plans.
