The first European to come ashore at what would become Vancouver, BC was Simon Fraser, who traveled from the east, down the Fraser River, as far as Point Grey in 1808, though indigenous Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh (Burrard) peoples called the area home for thousands of years before him.
